Product Description
Unlike plastic bottles that retain and combine the tastes of your last three drink flavors, the aluminum Sigg Lifestyle 0.6L Screw Top Bottle combats taste-retention and residue buildup. The Lifestyle Bottle's interior eco-lining is leach-proof and BPA-free. Sigg extruded this screw-top bottle from a single piece of aluminum so it's rugged and crack-resistant, though it will ding a bit if dropped (dents will not affect the interior lining).

Product Features
  • Material: [Shell] aluminum; [Lining] eco-lining
  • Volume: 20oz (0.6L)
  • Recommended Use: Hiking, working out, hydrating
  • Manufacturer Warranty: 30 Days
  • Country of Origin: China

3 out of 5 stars Aluminum Not Stainless Steel   April 24, 2009

After reading an article about BPA leaching from plastic water bottles, I freaked out and immediately thought that I needed a stainless steel water bottle. If this is also what you are looking for, the ALUMINUM Sigg bottle may not be for you. Aluminum water bottles, like Sigg bottles, use a coating or liner and these liners may or may not contain BPA. I only found this out after I received a Sigg bottle as a gift from my work.

That being said, Sigg does state that their bottles have a "Non-toxic proprietary inner liner resistant to leaching; taste- and scent-neutral." If this sounds okay to you and you like the colors and designs Sigg offers, go right ahead and purchase a Sigg bottle. Since they are made from aluminum, they are surprisingly light weight (I have a one liter model and it feels lighter than my smaller stainless steel Klean Kanteen). But if you have media induced BPA-phobia like I do, get a stainless steel water bottle e.g., Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Colored Water Bottles with Poly Loop Cap.

4 out of 5 stars I see why they are in high demand!   October 27, 2008

This has been a really great way to eliminate our usage of plastic water bottles. My son's school asks that the kids bring water to have at their desks, so this is the perfect product. It looks stylish, keeps his water nice and cool, and isn't overly bulky. I attached a lanyard to the ringed cap so he can easily grab it and go. Like the previous reviewer, it would be really nice if it could be filled with a standard ice cube - but I just use the crushed ice fridge function with a funnel. I can fill it in just a few seconds. I also have some rod type ice cube trays I picked up at IKEA that fit nicely. Overall, its durable, stylish and cool!

3 out of 5 stars Nice bottle   October 20, 2008

This is a pretty good water bottle. Not great, but good. I like the Samurai design, and it doesn't retain any flavors like some plastic bottles do. Another plus is it's size makes it easy to carry on a backpack or bookbag. One problem is the mouth is too narrow to take ordinary ice cubes, so you'd either have to fill it and leave it in the freezer for a while (it's not insulated), or buy some specialty ice cube trays.

5 out of 5 stars Pretty Older Sigg Designs---Great Water Bottle!   May 30, 2008

*****
This is an upscale designer water bottle, top of the line in every way. The designs of Sigg's water bottles are gorgeous--even the plain, solid color bottles are beautiful--but the ones with designs are even better, in my opinion.

In the case of these items (you select the pattern you want), you'll have to be familiar with the designs because only one of the bottles has a picture. This is unfortunate, but I have to say that you can't go wrong with a Sigg design --all are beautiful. However, if you're not sure, I would definitely look elsewhere to make sure you are comfortable with the colors, the pattern, etc. I checked the Sigg web site and these designs are no longer being sold there, so I'm not sure where you could see them. If someone knows, please post something in the comments; perhaps Amazon will update the picture.

I switched from regular plastic water bottles because of health concerns, even though I thought a permanent bottle like this would take more work to maintain. These do necessitate regular cleaning (I clean mine every day), but having something so beautiful to drink from makes the cleaning less of a chore. Sort of like my rings, glasses, and watch, I now consider my Sigg personal water bottle a vital accessory, reminding me to drink more water, making a statement about my values, and expressing myself with a special design.

Sigg of Switzerland water bottles are very high quality, made of light aluminum on the outside, slightly insulated, and covered with a special powder coat on the inside that prevents any leaching whatsoever, unlike plastic and polycarbonate water bottles. They are light, durable, and perfect for any activity. Well water tastes spectacular in these bottles, just like from the tap. They do dent if dropped on a hard surface at a particular angle, but Sigg fans (including me) view this as a type of "seasoning", so that your bottle acquires character. The dents are on the outside layer of the bottle, not the inside layer and so don't interfere with any functionality.

Sigg bottles come with several different types of tops. This bottle has a screw top, which I prefer. I don't mind unscrewing the top when I want a drink. It is totally leak proof, which is important to me. The top is pretty and can be hooked onto a carabineer. If you ever lose the top, you can buy them separately.

Sigg makes their personal water bottle in many sizes. I use the .6L size as my basic every day size, and keep it in my briefcase. It is a bit too large for my purse, although if you carry a tote it is an ideal size. It is also good for sports activities that require less water, like shorter walks. For my car and other uses I use the larger 1L size.

This bottle may seem expensive, but it is so durable that you can plan on it lasting many years. I consider Sigg bottles both an accessory and an investment in my health, so they are well worth it value-wise for me.

Note that Sigg water bottles should not be used to contain boiling water, as this will damage the outer coating. They also cannot be left in the freezer, as it may crack. They can be used for carbonated beverages, if you leave about a half inch of room at the top.

Highly recommended.
